The Avery-Cramp Education Bursary

An annual educational grant of up to £1000 has been funded by two legacies, given in memory of Miss Elizabeth Avery and Dr Harry Cramp MBE respectively. It will be offered to students and apprentices who are eighteen years of age or older and who are commencing their first year of higher education.

Examples of intended study:
Undergraduate bachelor’s degree course.
Apprenticeship or further education course, leading to a Level 4 or Level 5 qualification such as NVQ, BTEC Professional Diploma, HNC, HND, Diploma of Higher Education or a foundation degree.


Applicants must:
Have been resident in the parish of Great Torrington for a period of 12 months or more.
Complete the enclosed application form and provide evidence of their address.
Provide evidence of a conditional offer for the apprenticeship or course of study.
Intend to provide further evidence of a confirmed offer for the apprenticeship or course of study before receipt of the bursary.

Data Protection Notice:
Torrington Town and Lands Charity will use the information provided by the applicant to assess eligibility for the bursary. The information will be shared by employees and trustees for this purpose. Data may be retained for up to 7 years in order to demonstrate compliance with Charity Commission audit processes and to identify patterns in applications, but the charity will not share personal data for marketing purposes.
