Great Torrington Town Lands and Alms Charity has been supporting people and organisations in Great Torrington for over 500 years. The board of Trustees oversee the charity’s activities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and regulations.

The Charities income is generated from properties and investments.

Our small charity is seeking a Charity Operations Manager to provide stewardship and oversee critical functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Finance Management: as receiver, oversee financial matters, including budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal requirements and regulations.
  • Human Resources: Manage HR processes, recruitment, and staff development.
  • Health and Safety: Prioritize the well-being of our team and stakeholders.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement and maintain organizational policies.
  • GDPR Compliance: Safeguard data privacy and adhere to GDPR guidelines.
  • Property Portfolio Maintenance: Oversee maintenance of approximately 40 properties.


Qualifications and experience required:

  • Proven experience in business management or related roles.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a small team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with financial management and legal compliance.
  • Passion for contributing to our charity’s long-term success.


Reporting Structure:

  • Line Management: Supervise a dedicated but small team of staff
  • Charity Steward and Receiver: Work under the guidance of the Steward and Receiver
  • Board of Trustees: Provide regular updates and collaborate on strategic planning.


Salary Range:

£38,000 - £42,000 per annum (commensurate with experience).


Employment Type:

  • Full-time position.
