The Trustees of the Great Torrington Town & Lands Charity awarded a grant to the Great Torrington in Bloom Association.
Update and feedback for Great Torrington Town and Lands Charity grant application.
TIBA is very grateful for the grant application provided by the Town and Lands charity. The grant was awarded in March 2019 for renovations to the pathways in the Secret Memorial Garden, Castle Hill, Torrington. Some renovations were carried out on the pathway, specifically the entrance, but the contractor was not entirely happy with the end result, due to the levels of the drainage inspection covers which prevented the works to be completed satisfactorily. Due to this, the works were not charged for, and TIB is thankful to the contractor for not invoicing. This has meant that other parts of the SMG could be enhanced with the allocated monies from Town and Lands Charity.
Our small band of volunteers has been hard at work making the most of the funding available and entered the SMG into the RHS Britain in Bloom “It’s Your Neighbourhood” competition, a part of the competition specifically for areas developed by Community groups (extra details available on request). The group has received an “Outstanding” in the category. Without a doubt, the funding provided by The Town and Lands Charity has made this possible, for which we are all grateful. There is also a new water butt in situ, purchased in response to the comments. To assist with visitor understanding, we also now have new large print labels giving details on some of the herbs that are planted in the SMG.
