The Trustees of the Great Torrington Town & Lands Charity awarded a grant to the Youth Genesis Trust (Ltd).

The Town & Lands Charity have received the following update:-
Torrington Youth Space Update – June 2019
The Torrington Youth Space opened on Friday 17th May 2019 and offers young people aged 11-17 games, crafts, cooking, sports and discussion groups and support around a number of teenage issues that including healthy living, lifestyle choices, relationships, bullying, being safe, safe internet use and citizenship. The drop-in style sessions are open from 7.00-9.00pm on Friday nights and are based at Torrington Methodist Church.

The Torrington Youth Space is led by a Session Leader and a team of 8 volunteers. So far, a small group of 5-6 young people have been attending. As part of the sessions, a team of 3 volunteers have been going out onto the streets to engage young people in the form of Outreach. The team have been engaging around 15 young people on the streets, the aim is to build relationships and encourage the young people to attend the Youth Space.

The youth work team are planning a series of activities over the Summer Term which will include: board games and arts and crafts activities such as friendship bracelets, glitter tattoos. We will also be doing sports sessions that will include badminton, football, rounders and basketball and’ Minute to Win It’ Team Challenges! We have a end of term barbeque planned.
